Local Recycling Center Catches on Fire

Recently, a cardboard recycling plant in Edison, NJ had a large fire loss. Our owner was on-site within one hour of the call – at 12:30am. Once the fire department cleared the scene, our crews began extracting the water throughout this massive warehouse. By the end of the day, all the water was extracted and our air movers and dehumidifiers were beginning to dry out the structure. A quick reaction to a fire and smoke loss is critical to ensure the least amount of damage.
Type of Smoke
Paper, cardboard and wood are materials that generate a dry smoke. These types of fires generally have a higher temperature and are fast burning.
Plastics and rubber generate a wet smoke, which is sticky and smears. These types of fires generally have lower temperatures and are slow burning.
Fuel oil smoke and soot can be generated from a furnace puff back.
SERVPRO manufactures all of our cleaning products. Our technicians are expertly trained to know which product to use, depending on the type of fire and smoke each job has.
