Cracked Sewer Pipe in Basement
This flooded basement was the result of a cracked sewer line beneath the foundation. The homeowner knew they had a problem when they noticed a foul odor and wet carpets but they could not find an obvious water source. They checked all the usual suspects: hot water heaters, water supply lines, and laundry hoses, but each of those were functioning properly.
Eventually a plumber discovered the source of the problem and had to dig up the concrete flooring. Once the broken pipe was replaced, the plumber poured new concrete to repair the floor.
Meanwhile, SERVPRO of Edison was called in to remove the remaining contaminated carpet, padding, and effected baseboards. Our technicians cleaned and sanitized the effected flooring and worked to ensure the basement was dry, safe and ready for new carpets.
